James and Karin moved to Clapton Manor eighteen years ago and have brought up their four children in the house.
James is a garden designer and historian. He has organised garden tours to Europe for many years. In 2008 he took over Border Lines, the leading garden tours company to private English gardens.
Some three miles from Bourton-on-the-Water, Clapton is extraordinarily peaceful and quiet, yet we are 30 minutes or so from the gardens at Hidcote Manor, Kiftsgate Court, Blenheim Palace, Warwick Castle, also Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford.
The Village
As befits the former residence of William Fox, there is no pub in the village, however there are many excellent local pubs and restaurants within ten minutes drive of the house.
Clapton-on-the-Hill boasts the smallest church in Gloucestershire.
